A little about myself
I am a middle-aged man living in the Portmead area of Swansea. In 2017 I had a Laryngectomy, which now affects my speech, reading and writing skills and my ability to communicate what I need. In 2024, I suffered a stroke, which has created a lot of weakness and affected my mobility. I also have arthritis in my neck and spine and suffer with depression and anxiety.
Car driver and female required.
Purpose of the job
I am looking for someone to assist me with communicating and build my confidence in accessing and reintegrating into the community. You would need to spend a lot of time with me to develop a relationship, so that you are able to understand me when I am communicating. This in turn would allow you to support me with daily routines, e.g. telephone calls, booking appointments, banking, going to complete a full shop and access places of interest. I enjoy listening to the radio at home and would welcome the opportunity to go with you to watch some live music.
I also have a number of animals; therefore, you would need to be an animal lover. I have a 5-year-old King Charles spaniel, a very large Iguana (housed in his own large cabinet in my living room) and birds of prey in the garden. My dog has a few health issues at present, and I require support to look at vet options such as PDSA. I would require a car driver to be able to assist me with appointments and going out shopping or to watch a band.
