Applications open to student midwives who are expected to be in receipt of their NMC PIN by 31.10.2025.
Our Maternity Services in Cornwall have recently been transformed with national recognition, which we are immensely proud of. As a result, we have received overwhelming executive support to progress our Maternity Transformation agenda. We are now seeking enthusiastic midwives to join our team and support our vision.
We offer opportunities to gain experience across all areas of midwifery practice through our rotational posts. All team members participate in an innovative multidisciplinary training week, emphasizing staff development. We encourage involvement in quality improvement initiatives, listening to your ideas and supporting you to implement them. Our collaborative and respectful management approach aims to help you be the best you can be, ensuring women and their families receive the best care possible.
All interviews will be conducted face to face.
Role Responsibilities
1. Work as part of the Midwifery Team, providing high standards of individualized care during antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods in the hospital setting.
2. Undertake delegated responsibilities for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager.
Support for Newly Qualified Midwives
Our highly recommended program for newly qualified midwives (NQMs) has attracted excellent candidates. You will be supported by our Learning and Development Team, which includes a Practice Development Midwife, Clinical Skills Facilitators, a Fetal Monitoring Specialist Midwife, and a Professional Midwifery Advocate. Additionally, all NQMs are assigned a Preceptor and a Team Leader. A bespoke Midwifery update week emphasizes multidisciplinary training and fosters our strong learning culture. Regular multidisciplinary simulations are embedded into our daily routine. We are committed to investing in your ongoing development through various opportunities within the Trust, aligned with our "Being Brilliant" philosophy.
Sustainability and Flexible Working
Sustainability is central to achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their expertise. Many staff work flexibly; please discuss your preferences during the interview. While we may not accommodate all requests, they will not influence interview scoring and will be considered for successful applicants.
