The Role
The Safety Director is responsible for providingprofessional leadership in health, safety and environmental mattersacross all levels of the UK organisation. This role ensurescompliance with relevant international and UK regulations, fostersa strong and positive HSE culture, maintains safety certificationsand keeps the safety management system up-to-date and effective.Additionally, the role involves overseeing the development andimplementation of company standards, rules and procedures relatedto operations, safety, security, emergency planning and businesscontinuity.
* Ensure safetycertification, regulatory compliance, and maintain quality andenvironmental standards (DIN EN ISO 45001, 9001, 14001, ISO28000).
* Develop and maintain a robust safetymanagement system, establishing standards for safety, security,emergency planning, and environment.
* Act asthe Director Responsible for Security (DReS) and collaborate withmanagers for continuous improvement in health, safety, andwellbeing management.
* Mentor and inspire theteam, fostering a relentless and uncompromising HSE culture andensuring effective leadership, workforce allocation, andperformance
ThePerson
This is a role well suitedto a safety leader from within the rail or safety critical heavyindustrial sectors. The Safety Director will be an inspiringsafety practitioner, able to engage all levels of the organisationto ensure an embedded and sustainable safety firstculture.
The successful candidate is likely tohave;
* Relevant safety qualifications(Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate) and working towards Charteredmembership of IOSH (CMIOSH or above) or CEng equivalent.
* Proven track record in developing and implementing healthand safety processes.
* Excellent understandingof legal and regulatory requirements and management systems, withexperience in completing health and safety management auditsagainst OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001 and implementing action plan tomeet audit findings.
* Remarkable interpersonalskills with experience in training, coaching, and mentoringemployees to enhance health and safety expertise.
* Driven, fact-based leadership mindset with resilience andflexibility.
* Ability to integrate health andsafety requirements into daily operations effectively.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
Location andPackage
With 130 locations acrossthe UK, there is flexibility to where you are based. However,you will be expected to travel on a regular basis to the DoncasterHQ as well as to other key locations across the country on aregular basis.
