Carpenter (Multi trade) Are you a Carpenter with Multi Trade experience looking to work locally? What we are looking for: We are currently looking for a skilled carpenter to join our repairs and maintenance division to deliver high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair work. Operating within Managed Services, you’ll handle carpentry (including UPVC work), general repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment in tenanted, commercial, and void properties, focusing on achieving a first-time fix for all jobs. You’ll ensure exceptional service and client satisfaction within the borough. Working Arrangements: Working pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Barking & Dagenham - travel within the borough required as part of the role Vehicle provided Other: A DBS check will be required for this role. Some degree of flexibilty required as call out work may be available. Duties: Measure, calculate, and evaluate materials for accurate installation. Expertly cut, shape, and smooth lumber and materials. Assemble sturdy installations such as floorboards, window frames, doors, staircases, cabinetry, and shelving. Install fixtures and fittings according to design guidelines. Construct frameworks for projects of various scales, ensuring durability and quality. Perform general carpentry and joinery tasks, including repairs and refurbishments. Operate power tools effectively for cutting and shaping wood, metal, and other materials. Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate. Respond promptly to emergency calls, providing efficient solutions to minimise disruption to tenants. Ensure client satisfaction through clear communication and professionalism with tenants, regarding the nature of the work, expected timelines, and any necessary follow-up actions. Maintain accurate records of all repairs, installations, and inspections performed, ensuring all paperwork is completed and documented accurately and promptly including before and after photos. Leverage expertise in related trades as needed, collaborating seamlessly with other teams Handle tasks like framing baths, repairing/installing bath panels, repairing floor joists, and fixing kitchen cupboards. Utilise IT equipment (e.g., PDAs) for job monitoring and work allocation. Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and health and safety standards. Monitor and manage supplies and equipment on the van, ensuring adequate stock levels. Protect work areas with coverings and move furniture to minimise damage risk. Maintain regular contact with Technical Supervisors and report issues promptly. Qualifications & Experience: A minimum qualification (such as City & Guilds or NVQ) in Carpentry and have experience/skill in UPVC work. Proficient in plumbing and skilled in at least one other trade. Experience in a repairs’ environment, with a preference for social housing experience. Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and procedures. Proven ability to deliver high quality construction projects and efficient output to meet client expectations. Excellent communications skills, ability to build positive working relationships with a range of clients, contractors and employees. Capability of taking initiative and working independently. Personal resilience and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines. Full clean UK driving licence required.
