Job Overview
The role is working in the specialist field of Adult Learning Disabilities. The post holder will take a lead role in supporting two Consultants by providing a professional and high quality PA/secretarial and administrative service. The post holder will organise, accurately record and monitor the progress of each patient’s journey within clinical governance standards; ensuring patient satisfaction and meeting agreed performance standards.
Main duties of the job
The role will act as a personal assistant/medical secretary to two Consultant Psychiatrists to ensure production of letters and reports within the time limits agreed and to enable the Consultant Psychiatrists to effectively participate in all their roles and responsibilities.

Person specification
Essential
* RSA II Typing or equivalent. AMSPAR diploma or equivalent recognised medical secretarial qualification(s) or certificate in general secretarial subjects plus relevant experience. English GCSE or equivalent.
* Extensive secretarial experience of working for Medical Consultants or other health professionals.
* Good oral and written communication skills. Good speed / accuracy level of keyboard skills. IT skills in Microsoft Office applications. Accuracy of audio typing and medical terminology. Ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively. Independent decision making.
* Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures. Knowledge of Information Governance and data protection with regard to respect for confidential information.
Desirable
* ECDL Shorthand / speed writing
* Health service experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Good understanding of IT.
