Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic and versatile individual to provide receptionist and administrative support to the team at Spinneyfields Step Down Unit.
Spinneyfields is Kettering Hospitals new off-site facility providing non acute and step-down care for our patients. It is a purpose-built standalone facility in the Northamptonshire town of Rushden.
This facility has been recently acquired by Kettering General Hospital and provides care for patients who no longer require their care needs being met in the hospital.
This includes patients who are medically optimised but have complex discharge needs. For example, a patient who has finished their medical treatment and can return home but to return home safely will need a new care package or some short-term rehabilitation.
Whilst this is an offsite location, Spinneyfields is a Kettering General Hospital (KGH) service and if successful, you will be employed on KGH terms and conditions and will be an employee of KGH.
The post holder will provide administrative and reception support to the Spinney field team and contribute to the effective running of the Unit. This post is full time and will require the successful applicant to work on site. Flexible/agile working hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
To provide receptionist and administrative support to the Spinneyfield team
The role entails general administration responsibilities as well as greeting patients and relatives, answering the phone and speaking with patient relatives and other healthcare professionals and providers regarding patients on the unit. You will be an integral member of the Unit, providing effective day-to-day clerical and receptionist support to facilitate the smooth running of Unit.
Part of this role is to file and maintain patient records and other records using computer based systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To work as part of a multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary team providing a range of administration and clerical services.
* Provide an efficient customer service, dealing with enquiries from patients, and their families, Medical Staff, and all members of the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
* Effectively utilise the Trusts information systems.
* Ensure that patient information is transferred efficiently on the administration/IT systems in use at the Trust.
* Ensuring that members of the MDT can access the appropriate information regarding patients on the unit.
* Arrange any follow-up appointments required with the Consultant on discharge.
* Arranging appropriate transportation of patients for attendance at relevant department.
* Make appointments on the Trusts information systems as per standard operating procedures.
* Take appropriate action on receipt of test results / correspondence.
* Escalate to line manager capacity requirements in a timely manner.
* Ensure that confidential information is protected on the unit and only appropriate staff can access.
* Ensure that sufficient supplies of necessary documentation are available on the unit.

Qualifications
* A good standard of general education including Maths and English
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent level of education, training or experience
Knowledge and Experience
* Proficient keyboard and data entry experience
* Use of various computer software
* Knowledge of administrative procedures
* Experience of office/admin systems
* Experience working in the NHS or a health related organisation
Skills
* Be able to demonstrate the use of office equipment including photocopier, printers and telephone.

From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
