Role Overview
The Project Manager – Innovation will lead high priority, cross functional, complex
pieces of innovation work across the business. They are responsible for supporting the
Medical Nutrition Managers in driving innovation opportunities forward from being
conceptual ideas to functional trials and eventually through to launch.
As project expert you must be to be able to mobilise and run virtual teams across
business functions and respond to challenges. This role presents an opportunity to
work directly with departments across all functions. There are multiple opportunities in
play and a shifting focus as one piece of work is completed and another starts, or one
project might shift to adjust to external demands or priorities.
This role will support the New Product Development (NPD) Innovation team (and the
Supply Chain team) in driving projects from concept through to launch, ensuring
seamless coordination, timely delivery, and alignment with strategic business goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Define and scope the projects / programmes you lead, establishing clear
direction and alignment by ensuring a clear vision, objectives and plan are in
place
• Working alongside relevant team players, construct business cases to
understand the potential future benefit of innovation opportunities
• Mobilise cross functional project /programme teams and establish and embed
ways of working
• Establish and facilitate the appropriate levels of governance to provide oversight
and direction for the projects/programmes
• Engage and align colleagues across all levels to deliver
• Manage interdependencies and impacts across projects / programmes
• Drive progress in a consistent, transparent way, and to identify and manage
issues and risks, and opportunities
• Support subject matter expertise and development both within the team and
across the wider company.
• Lead cross-functionally to deliver NPD projects (and supply chain) initiatives on
time and within budget.
• Use the relevant project tools or platforms to develop comprehensive project
plans, timelines, and milestones to track progress and identify potential risk.
• Monitor project status, manage resources, and ensure that all stakeholders are
kept informed.
• Act as the central point of contact for all Innovation (/Supply Chain) projectrelated
communication between the NPD Innovation, Supply Chain, Finance,
Internal Ops and Market Engagement teams.
• follow a standard process, as defined by a professional project management
organisation,
• initiate the project - check feasibility and work out budgets, teams and resources
• carry out planning - this will include setting goals and objectives, defining roles
and producing schedules and timelines for tasks - in accordance with the needs
of your division.
• manage the project - which includes coordinating the project team to keep them
on track and keeping the project on budget
• carry out monitoring and control activities in order to track the progress of the
project
• identify and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time
• implement any necessary changes throughout the process
• report regularly to management and the team
• close the project - including evaluating successes and challenges to enhance
learning for the next innovation (supply chain) project.
• Identify potential project risks and devise mitigation strategies to minimize
impact.
• Address issues promptly and provide solutions to keep projects on track.
• Oversee project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and
identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including project charters, timelines,
status reports, and meeting notes
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance eUiciency in
NPD and supply chain operations.
• Any other tasks as may be relevant to this role
Requirements:
• BA or Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Project Management or
a related field. An MBA or PMP certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management, preferably within the
healthcare, medical nutrition, or FMCG sectors.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, organisation, and
attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Asana)
ClickUp is preferred.
• Proficiency across Agile and Waterfall methods.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of medical product development and supply chain processes is
highly desirable.
• Solid track record of delivering projects / programmes, and working cross
functionally
• Experience of managing project teams, and building and maintaining positive
relationships with a broad group of colleagues
• Experience influencing senior colleagues, facilitating governance sessions and
confidently engaging senior business leaders and the wider team
• Ability to embrace opportunities and flexing to meet internal and external
