Crew Optimisation Specialist
18 months fixed-term contract opportunity.
easyJet is big, really big. We’re the second largest airline in Europe, and we have more flying slots than any other in the world. With that scale comes opportunity – opportunity to quickly progress, diversify your career, and to see the impact of your work on a wider scale. So much so, it’s said that one year at easyJet is worth three elsewhere – that’s ‘Orange Years’ and why joining us is so much more than a job, it’s a career full of variety and possibility.
We are seeking a Crew Optimisation Specialist to join our Operational Planning department on an 18 month fixed-term contract.
What you will be doing:
As a Crew Optimisation Specialist, you will work closely with the Crew Optimisation Manager to develop and implement efficient crew rosters and pairings, ensuring compliance with safety, legal, and operational standards. You will play a key role in managing the monthly roster process from start to finish, using Python and other optimisation tools to automate data extraction, process large datasets, and enhance scheduling accuracy. By performing in-depth analysis of crew pairings, considering factors such as crew availability, commercial schedules, and regulatory requirements, you will drive data-driven decision-making to optimise crew schedules and enhance operational performance. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating pairing efficiency, implementing actionable recommendations, and providing key insights through data visualisation and reporting. In addition, you will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely and accurate roster delivery, support system testing, and maintain compliance with EASA FTL and fatigue risk management regulations.
What you need to do the role:
To excel in this role, you will need a degree in aviation, data science, or a related field, along with at least two years of experience in crew planning or optimisation. Strong proficiency in Python or AI-based software is essential, as well as advanced Excel skills for managing large datasets. Familiarity with airline pairing and rostering systems, EASA FTL regulations, and fatigue risk management is desirable. You must have exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will also be key to ensuring the successful delivery of crew schedules.
What you’ll get in return:
* Competitive base salary
* Up to 20% bonus
* 25 days holiday
* BAYE, SAYE & Performance share schemes
* 5% pension
* Life Assurance
* Flexible benefits package
* Excellent staff travel benefits
Location & Hours of Work:
This 18 month fixed-term contract opportunity is based in Luton, working 40 hours per week. We support hybrid working and spend three days per week in the office.
