We currently have an opportunity for a Transfusion Practitioner (TP) at Band 7 to become part of our progressive organisation and Transfusion team.
We invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientists/Nurses Band 7 level or Band 6 either already fulfilling a TP role or experienced in Transfusion practices.
Applicants must be NMC/HCPC Registered and at a minimum of Band 6 level or above in a busy NHS Trust with significant Transfusion activity.
Higher level qualification to MSc is expected as is demonstrable experience commensurate with the grade of the post, a further management or risk/quality qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
The successful candidate is expected to work across sites as required, but out of hours participation is not a requirement of this post.
The post would suit an individual seeking the challenge of professional and managerial development and we will provide opportunities for learning and professional development.
You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to organise and motivate service users.
The appointee will assist the Lead TP and other members of the Blood Transfusion management team in providing a comprehensive, cost effective, and high-quality Blood Transfusion service to the Trust.
The post holder will represent Blood Transfusion at relevant Trust, Pathology and external meetings as required and will contribute to service improvement as well as facilitating delivery of current service provision across the Trust.
The successful candidate will be involved in providing the education to Trust and external staff in cold chain management, and be involved in managing Traceability figures, investigating SHOT/SABRE incidents/Datix/Non-conformances, performing audits (national/regional) and presenting risk to a senior level. Involvement in projects such as cell-salvage will be required.
