Job Title: Personal Advisor – Care Leavers Service
Location: Warrington
Rate: £19.07 per hour
The Role:
Warrington Borough Council is seeking a committed, compassionate, and highly motivated Personal Advisor to join our Ofsted-rated GOOD Care Leavers Service.
As a Personal Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 16 to 25 who are leaving care. You’ll begin working with them from their 16th birthday, building strong, trusting relationships and helping to shape their Pathway Plans as they move toward independence and adulthood.
This is a dynamic role that requires you to work with young people facing a wide range of complex needs. You’ll offer both practical and emotional support and often be the key professional consistently involved in a young person’s life. The role also involves partnership working with external agencies, responding to crises as needed, and occasionally travelling to meet young people in the community.
Our team takes pride in the growing Local Offer for care leavers in Warrington, which includes a welcoming drop-in service at the Living Well Hub, and a portfolio of workshops and resources designed to support and empower care-experienced young people. We are also proud of the innovative ways we maintain positive engagement with our young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Fulfil the statutory duties of a Personal Advisor under the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
Collaborate with social workers to help prepare young people for life after care.
Provide ongoing support to care leavers living independently in the community.
Liaise with a range of partner agencies to ensure a high standard of support is provided.
Offer practical assistance, emotional guidance, and access to relevant services and resources.
Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
Requirements:
Previous experience working as a Personal Advisor or in a similar support role.
Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
At least five GCSEs, including English and Maths.
Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with young people.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to converse comfortably and clearly in English is essential.
A flexible and responsive approach to work, including the ability to respond to urgent situations as they arise.
If you're ready to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to creating positive change in social care, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out for more details or to apply.
