We have a Level 3 Neonatal Unit situated at the Royal London Site, a Level 2 Neonatal Unit situated at the Newham Site and we have excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine.
Newham Hospital is situated in the heart of East London and we have easy access to very good public transport links. We provide Maternity Services to approximately 6700 women a year and accommodate our women in very modern up to date facilitates. We also have co-located midwifery-led unit and a stand-alone midwife-led unit at Barking.
The trainee consultant midwife is crucial in leading and supporting our midwives and maternity support workers to deliver a modern, efficient, high-quality, safe service. We are looking for an experienced and inspirational midwife who can work in our senior leadership team to help achieve KPI’s and focus on improving the health of women and people in the community. The right candidate will have up to date clinical skills, leadership abilities, knowledge and experience, and be familiar with current local and national strategies to improve safety and care in maternity. They will be a passionate advocate for women, birthing people and their families, and have a strong ethos of midwifery care. The candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team colleagues and key internal and external stakeholders across the service.
The post is open to candidates with suitable experience and a commitment to supporting staff and improving care. The role will be challenging at times, and we require an individual who has excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to demonstrate an understanding of change management, team dynamics, and appreciate the demands of delivering an efficient and effective maternity service which meets the requirements of women, within in the current NHS climate.
