Main function of the job:
To provide leadership of the administration, care, and people management functions of the Service, catering, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance.
To carry out, and provide leadership in marketing the service, and selling its services at the agreed prices.
To maintain the service operations at the standard agreed with the Registered Provider, within the financial budget or other parameters set by the Provider.
To maintain support and management skills at the current level and undertake such training and development as may, from time to time, be required to maintain that currency of practice.
To manage the services within the service per standards agreed upon by the Person Registered, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, and accepted best practices.
Notify the Care Quality Commission, at least one month before absence (except in an emergency, in which case within one week) of continuous absence of 28 days or more, stating the following: length of absence; reason for absence; arrangements for running the establishment; name, address and qualifications of person responsible for the establishment during the absence.
Notify return within 7 days of return from an absence of 28 days or more.
(Note: In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out duties that may reasonably be required.)
Management of the organisation:
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Responsible Individual for the service.
Create and uphold an open, positive and inclusive management culture.
Formulate and administer the service’s budget based on the service’s objectives and within the projected revenue.
Participate in the development of the service’s policies.
Share in the development of strategic plans for the service.
Participate in service evaluation against agreed organisational goals, business, and quality objectives.
Work to establish effective employer-employee relationships.
Minimise legal risks.
Participate in the establishment and maintenance of the service’s management information systems.
Advise the Registered Provider of any changes to the organisation's structure which may be required.
Organise the formulation and implementation of all of the policies and procedures.
Formulate and implement care policies and procedures.
Design and administer an evaluation of the support standards and support service provision.
Management of the Human Resources:
Specify, recruit, select, and train employees in numbers agreed with the Provider and at a cost agreed with the Provider, not exceeding the agreed staff budget (including agency cost).
Develop a master plan rota to comply with statutory requirements and the satisfaction of ongoing Service User needs, and which meets the financial targets of the service.
Ensure that job descriptions for all employees are appropriate to current practices in each function.
Implement and evaluate the orientation and induction of all new employees.
Assist individual staff to develop in their role and compliance with agreed standards.
Promote and implement the service’s policies and procedures.
Management of Support Services:
Develop the philosophy, goals and objectives for the support and nursing practice.
Assess the effectiveness of support and nursing implementation and delivery.
Implement action to meet and maintain support and nursing standards.
Work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams to maximise opportunities for Service User therapeutic support.
Ensure that Service User rights are protected.
Professional Long Term Support Leadership:
Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of support.
Encourage health promotion within support strategies.
Engage in local meetings relevant to the service activity.
Establish relationships with learning institutions to promote availability of staff training at all levels.
Specific Requirements of the role:
Full driving license due to multiple locations
Supported living
Managing multiple sites
experience working with mental health, Learning disabilities and autism
Good IT skills
Additional Information:
This Team Manager role is to cover Malvern Crossing alongside three small local supported living services. The people we support have learning disabilities and/or autism and some complex health needs. The manager will be based at Malvern Crossing in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, a 7 bed supported living service within walking distance of Tewkesbury town centre. The manager will manage a team of approximately 12 support staff and will be supported by a Team Leader.
Driving license preferred but not essential, level 5 or prepared to work towards this qualification
