Job Description:
Well Placement Engineer required to maximize contact with the most productive parts of reservoirs via hydraulic fracturing or optimize intersection with natural fractures. The Well Placement Engineer will use Geomechanical analysis of natural fractures and stresses and geological analysis of the reservoir to plan drilling technology and support the drilling operation in real time.
Key Skills:
1. Reservoir modeling, characterization, and production geology. Integrating geoscience and engineering data for optimizing reservoir development.
2. Resources and reserves assessment including asset evaluations.
3. Well placement, geosteering, and reservoir mapping using PeriScope & GeoSphere technology.
4. Geomechanics and stress characterization. Experience with characterizing in situ stress conditions using hydraulic fracture treatment data, CMI image logs, and cross dipole sonic logs.
5. Unconventional shale gas and oil. Experience with shale gas and oil exploration and development, including subsurface technical challenges and surface socio-political challenges.
6. Burial history modelling. Very good understanding of geological controls and input parameters affecting burial history modelling and source rock maturation. This includes reconstructing uplift history from sonic velocity analysis and compaction curve fitting, palaeo-heat flows, palaeogeothermal gradients, and vitrinite reflectance.
7. Fracture mechanics-propagation & arrest. An understanding of the mechanical controls governing hydrofracture initiation, propagation, deflection, and arrest. Experience with both analogue and numerical modelling (Finite Element Method) of fractures.
