The successful candidate will be a key part of the engineering compliance team and will play an integral role in managing regulatory compliance of Amazon EU fulfillment network buildings. The compliance manager will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operational, commercial and legal teams. This role will analyze and evaluate compliance on site level and define solutions while supporting the standardization of the technical and facility related processes and mechanisms.
This opportunity combines compliance & permit management, construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management. You should have significant project management, construction or engineering experience with focus on permitting or compliance and a proven track record of managing both new builds and the enhancement of existing industrial buildings.
You should be experienced in the creation of specifications, management of contracts and be able to deal with matters requiring statutory consent. Experience of facilities management would be beneficial.

Key job responsibilities
1. Manage technical regulatory compliance of Amazon fulfillment network buildings, with focus on building regulations, workplace regulations, fire life safety, environmental regulations and other permits and licenses.
2. Identify and govern compliance related risks from an interdisciplinary viewpoint, engaging right stakeholders to manage risk; Manage projects to mitigate risk.
3. Governance of licenses and permits on site and regional level.
4. Manage internal audits to proactively assure compliance with all permits and regulatory requirements, including procuring required services and managing external consultants.
5. Identify improvement opportunities in internal processes and mechanisms; Create and own new tools and mechanisms.
6. Collaborate with construction and other engineering teams in design of new buildings and building conversions to assure compliance management throughout the project; Provide technical direction and consult within engineering design, building design, details, schedules, installation and commissioning.
7. Change management and support to operational and central teams on change in Amazon buildings; Coach and guide key teams regarding compliance of the full asset lifecycle.
8. Prepare reports, specifications and technical analysis; Recommend solutions to improve facility infrastructure, safety and security involving facilities and people.
9. Act as direct point of contact for site leadership and other operations leadership around compliance, including risk management and reporting of activities on program level; Collaborate with other departments managing compliance.
10. Coach other (new) team members on best practices, manage and coordinate relevant training initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, construction or surveying, or a relevant other degree.
2. Professional experience as a compliance manager, permit manager, engineer, construction manager or similar field.
3. Project management and engineering experience.
4. English language proficiency.
5. Willingness to travel frequently within Europe, up to 50% of the time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Facilities management experience would be beneficial.
2. German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
