Location - Collingtree, Northampton (NN4) A Kitchen Assistant in a care home plays a crucial role in supporting the chef and kitchen staff in preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals to residents. This role involves maintaining cleanliness, adhering to food hygiene standards, and ensuring that residents receive meals tailored to their dietary needs. Key Responsibilities: ? Food Preparation & Assistance Assist the chef in preparing meals, snacks, and beverages according to residents' dietary requirements. Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as needed. Help with plating and presentation of meals for residents. ? Kitchen Hygiene & Cleaning Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are sanitized. Dispose of waste properly and follow food safety regulations. ? Stock Management & Food Safety Monitor and store food supplies correctly to maintain freshness. Assist in checking food deliveries and ensuring proper stock rotation. Follow food hygiene and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). ? Resident Interaction & Support Help serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner. Assist residents who require help with eating and drinking. Ensure all meals are delivered on time and meet individual dietary needs (e.g., pureed meals, diabetic-friendly options). ? Teamwork & Compliance Work closely with kitchen staff, care teams, and other departments to ensure smooth meal service. Follow all health and safety guidelines, including allergen awareness and cross-contamination prevention. Report any kitchen-related issues, such as broken equipment or food shortages, to the kitchen supervisor. Skills & Qualifications: ? Previous kitchen or catering experience (preferred but not essential). ? Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations (Food Hygiene Certificate is a plus). ?
