The Business Support department comprises of several functional leads that enable Squarcle to operate efficiently, safely and in accordance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and internal requirements. An essential and busy department within Squarcle that manages all the support functions from Compliance, Human Resources, Accounting and Finance and Executive support the business. JOB OVERVIEW/INTRODUCTION
As an IT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving IT service excellence and process improvement initiatives for the business. Reporting to the Head of Technical Services whilst collaborating directly with the Business Support Director, you will lead the delivery of high-quality, secure, IT Service delivery that aligns to business objectives. Your responsibilities will include championing the adoption and optimisation of digital tools and methodologies across the organisation, ensuring that the business derives maximum value from our digital investments. In addition to this you will sustain the businesses IT infrastructure and ITSM processes and policies.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties of the IT Manager:
IT Operations
* Manage and maintain the organisations Azure cloud infrastructure and end user devices, including resource optimisation, cost management, and security.
* Oversee integration, configuration, and performance of Azure services for business delivery.
* Maintain Azure Active Directory, user account provisioning, and role-based access control (RBAC).
* Ensure system updates, software licensing, and backups align with best practices.
* Develop and implement IT strategies that support organisational goals and scalability.
* Champion Squarcle digital capability externally through online channels.
Service Management
* Use JIRA to manage IT service desk operations, track issues, and prioritise requests.
* Provide day-to-day IT support and troubleshooting using JIRA for ticketing and service management.
* Configure JIRA workflows to streamline IT service management processes.
* Monitor SLAs and performance metrics for IT service delivery and user support.
* Provide training and support for staff to maximise the use of JIRA for collaboration and ticketing.
Cyber Security
* Implement, and manage cybersecurity measures to protect Azure-based IT systems and data.
* Perform regular security assessments and manage threat detection tools available in Azure (e.g., Azure Security Centre, Microsoft Defender).
* Monitor and respond to security incidents using integrated Azure and JIRA workflows.
* Implement and manage security features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption, and firewalls within Azure.
Information Management and Compliance
* Maintain information security policies and procedures aligned with ISO 27001 standards.
* Support compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
* Support internal audits and coordinate with external auditors to maintain certifications.
* Classify, store, and protect organisational data effectively.
* Provide training and awareness programs to staff on information security best practices.
Other
* Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend countermeasures.
* Chairing internal and external meetings and leading workshops with senior executives.
* Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
* Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for all direct reports.
* Lead, coach and mentor team members.
SECONDARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Secondary Duties of the IT Manager are:
* Commit to continuous development by supporting the innovation of our offerings and the organisation of team events, training sessions and recruitment activities.
* Develop Squarcle IT/Information Management policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (ESSENTIAL)
* Certified Information Systems Security Professional CISSP.
* Proficient in managing IT infrastructure (cloud services, networks, end user devices).
* Strong knowledge of cybersecurity tools and frameworks (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
* Familiarity with data governance and regulatory compliance requirements.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical and project management skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
* Proven experience (5 + years) working as an IT Manager or in a similar role.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience of managing and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders in a complex and challenging environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments.
* Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and to think creativity to solve client issues.
* Advanced communication, presentation and IT skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (DESIRABLE)
* ISO27001 Auditor.
* Certification ITIL
* Cloud Certifications such as Microsoft Azure etc.
This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 6 months.
