An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Pharmacist to join the Cancer and Aseptic Services team at ESHT. Successful candidates will support and deputise for the Lead Pharmacist, Aseptic and Cancer Services in the provision of a safe, effective, and efficient clinical pharmacy service to oncology and haematology services at ESHT. They will also lead on the development and provision of clinical pharmacy services to the ESHT Infusion Suite. We are in the process of re-developing the Aseptic and Cancer services provided to patients at ESHT.
Experience in Cancer and/or Aseptic Services is essential. Candidates will have the opportunity to explore and enhance their clinical expertise while developing management, training, and leadership skills. They will be supported by an experienced and skilled team of pharmacists, technicians, and assistants.
This post includes an education and training element, which has previously proven successful in developing staff, resulting in promotions to lead or management positions.
We have a successful track record of delivering higher-level training, and if not already obtained, applicants will be encouraged to complete their Independent Prescribing studies.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a specialised haematology and oncology clinical pharmacy service to inpatient, outpatient, and day-case patients, carers, specialist medical and nursing staff, and other relevant HCPs.
2. To assess and analyse oral and injectable cytotoxic prescriptions for accuracy, including complex dosage calculations, appropriateness, and safety.
3. To be accredited in the appropriate aspects of handling intrathecal chemotherapy.
4. As the authorised pharmacist, perform a final product check on items manufactured under Section 10 Exemption of the Medicines Act.
5. To take responsibility for the effective use of the network computerised chemotherapy prescribing system.
6. To facilitate the implementation of relevant local, network, and national standards.

Qualifications
Essential
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (professional degree + 1 year pre-registration training).
* Demonstrates ongoing CPD relevant to the role.
Desirable
* Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
* Specialist qualification in cancer therapy or equivalent knowledge.
* Knowledge of GMP.
Skills
Essential
* Demonstrates an understanding of the role.
* Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet targets.
* Knowledge of safe pharmacy practice, including Medicines legislation.
Desirable
* Knowledge of current practices and trends in cancer chemotherapy.
