Digital Forensic Specialist
Rate: £600 (a day)
Duration: 6 Months (initially)
Location: London (on-site)
IR35: Inside (must use an umbrella company)
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure appropriate systems are in place and work practices follow applicable standards (FSR Code of Conduct and ISO17025) through regular Quality Assurance checks and adherence to (and development of) the DFU Quality Management System.
2. Develop and implement methods, validation plans, training materials, and competency assessments for digital forensic tasks (such as mobile phone, computer, and loose media extraction, decoding, and conversion).
3. Support and guide Digital Forensic Specialists with complex technological/Digital Forensic/eDiscovery matters by sharing knowledge, building capability, and collaborating to resolve issues.
4. Provide reports and updates to the Head of Unit and internal stakeholders, including presenting findings, developments, and recommendations to improve the timeliness and quality of DF activities.
5. Assist the Head of DFU and Digital Forensic Consultants in undertaking strategic planning, review, and coordination of DFU Examiner Training.
6. Assist the Digital Evidence Quality Manager in developing the lab QMS, including developing methods, validation plans, training materials, and competency tests.
7. Provide witness statements and attend court to give evidence regarding digital forensic work undertaken.
8. Contribute to office-wide initiatives such as policy development, training, and other work that supports strategic development.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Computer/Digital Forensics degree AND significant experience as a Digital Forensic Investigator/Examiner.
2. Experience of undertaking Digital Forensic casework and delivering data to customers.
3. Extensive knowledge of digital media, operating systems, storage, and devices (including Computer, Mobile, Network, Business Systems, Cloud Forensics).
4. Understanding of evidence handling procedures and principles.
5. Understanding of the Forensic Science Regulator's codes as they apply to Digital Forensic acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.
6. Knowledge/Experience of introducing new policies and procedures into a digital forensic environment.
7. Certification (previous/current) or equivalent experience of using one or more of the following forensic tools: EnCase (EnCE certification), Nuix (NICS), Cellebrite Certification (CCLO or CCPA), XRY, FTK, or similar.
