This painting role is based at Fieldhead hospital in Wakefield but covers other health centres in the Wakefield area that sits under the trust footprint.
The role involves maintaining the decoration of all service areas, covering all aspects of painting and decorating internally and externally on the buildings.
The work is varied and changes on a day-to-day basis in line with service needs and prioritization of works.
Estates trust vehicles are utilized for traveling around the footprint of the trust, and the successful candidate's skillset may at times need to be used on the Barnsley properties, which includes Kendray hospital and Doncaster property such as Cheswold Park Hospital.
This is an exciting role for the right candidate who enjoys a challenge in a very demanding environment.
The successful candidate will become part of a small team of painters who work with and support other trades and maintenance assistants in daily duties.
Reactive works are the main duties of this post, but our estates painting lead does run and manage full painting programmes for all areas across the trust footprint.

Main duties of the job
1. To carry out routine painting maintenance of Trust properties.
2. Carry out internal and external decoration of ward areas, departments, and common areas.
3. Be fully conversant with various types of application, e.g., oil-based paints, acrylic paints, spraying techniques, wallpapering finishes.
4. Wall washing of clinical and non-clinical areas as required.
5. Any other duties generally regarded as being concomitant with painting and decorating.
6. The postholder will be expected to increase knowledge through in-house/external courses to carry out basic duties of other trades.
7. Light cleaning, lamp replacement with relevant training.
8. Removing/replacing notice boards, signs, shelves, etc.

Job responsibilities
The main area of this post is to ensure the fabric of all properties within SWYPT and any other organizations as directed, both internally and externally, are kept to a high standard. The postholder will be expected to undertake training to increase flexibility across other trades.

1. To carry out routine maintenance of Trust properties.

4. To be fully conversant with various types of application, e.g., oil-based paint, acrylic paints, spraying techniques, wallpapering finishes.
5. The marking of roads with reference to hatching, instructional directions, and lining.
6. Wall washing of clinical and non-clinical areas as required.
7. Any other duties generally regarded as being concomitant with painting and decorating.
8. The postholder will manage his/her own workload and liaise with departmental managers for access to ward and patient areas.
9. To ensure stock levels are maintained and order stock and parts as required.
10. To ensure the quality of work is of a high standard at all times.
11. Required to carry out work in accordance with working at heights and permit to work system on various functions in various conditions, i.e., confined spaces, boiler houses, plant rooms, stairwells, etc.
12. To work from ladders, erect scaffold (once trained), and safely use the safety harness system.
