We are looking for experienced Operating Department Practitioners and Theatre Nurses at the Glenfield Hospital ready to take the next step in their continuing professional development. We seek individuals who can demonstrate organisational skills such as time management, task prioritisation, and development of others through effective clinical, managerial, and leadership skills.
Educational resources such as the Centre for Clinical Practice, accredited Leadership/Development courses, degree modules funding, and cultural ambassadors ensure equal opportunity career development.
Specialties at the Glenfield Hospital include: Cardiac, Vascular, HPB, Renal, Breast & Thoracic surgery.
A range of shift patterns are available with teams such as Emergency working additional shift patterns to cover the 24/7 service. Most elective teams work a 5-day week, some with planned 3-session days. There are regular weekend sessions for a smaller number of specialties. The Cardiac Thoracic and Emergency Team also have an on-call commitment.
Main duties of the job
1. Visible clinical expertise, leading multi-disciplinary teams daily to provide direction and effective inspirational leadership within the area of responsibility.
2. Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based care to patients.
3. Co-ordination and supervision of staff involved in all aspects of clinical duties.
4. Deputise and manage the clinical area in absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader.
5. Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team.
6. Actively contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users, and their families.
7. Act as a role model; mentoring, teaching, assessing, and supporting students/learners on placement and participate in the education, development, and mentorship of other staff.

Job responsibilities
1. Support Team Leader/Matron to ensure the clinical environment is safe, clean, comfortable, and well maintained in line with patient and public expectations.
2. Ensure delivery of care to all patients when in charge meets the standards determined by the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader.
3. Ensure self and team members provide a personalised service to patients in accordance with agreed standards and promote quality, diversity, and rights.
4. Contribute to setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care to optimum levels and lead improvement of care through benchmarking, audit, and research.
5. In the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader ensure adequate support, safe mentorship, and supervision of learner nurses and staff.
6. Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experience in order to address concerns in a timely manner and build on success.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Recognised NMC Teaching and Assessing Qualification or equivalent experience.
* Audit experience / research skills.
Training and qualifications
* Have completed a Practice Assessor preparation day and have recent experience in supporting/assessing learners' practice in the workplace.
* Evidence of Post registration Educational Continuing development.
* Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise.
* Good understanding of quality, safety, and risk management.
* Clinical leadership program.
Communication
* Use initiative and has the ability to lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary team.
* Good verbal and written skills.
Planning and organisation
* Ability to prioritise.
* Evidence of successful change management.
* Demonstrates understanding of efficient and effective use of resources where the workload can be unpredictable.
* Knowledge and understanding of budget responsibility to reduce waste.
