Our client based in Guildford is looking to hire a senior IT support engineer with at least 6 years’ experience to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have former experience within an MSP environment and be able to provide 2nd/3rd line technical support to all users, resolving technical calls.
The role
The main objective of the role is to provide IT support to external clients. This will range from supporting end-users, resetting user accounts, and general Windows & Mac troubleshooting, repairing computer hardware and software to server administration using Active Directory, Entra, Exchange, and Microsoft 365. You will implement, support, maintain, and manage IT services, including networking, IT security, email, and disaster recovery. Providing advanced technical support for desktop, server, and networking issues. Ensuring all IT services are properly maintained and updated, including anti-virus, backups, and patching.
Your daily support tasks would include but are not limited to:
1. Taking support calls
2. Managing helpdesk tickets
3. Providing onsite & remote support
4. Windows and Mac setup of new hardware for users
5. Daily system checks, such as backups and system status
6. Working independently on IT projects and tasks as assigned by senior staff and resolving in a timely manner
7. Collaborating with team members to ensure a smooth IT support workflow
Required skills
* Excellent customer service support to help clients with IT issues, both in person and remotely
* Office 365 including Sharepoint and Entra (365 migration and Sharepoint setup), Active Directory
* Excellent understanding of Windows Server and Windows 10 & 11
* Strong knowledge of routers, firewalls, switches, backup systems (ideally Datto) & basic networking
* Installing and configuring computer hardware and software
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing top-notch support
* Strong interest in information technology and a willingness to learn. Stay up to date with emerging technology trends and IT best practices to enhance your skills and knowledge
* Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction from senior IT staff
* Full driving license and own car
Beneficial but not essential
* Former experience with an MSP
* Good knowledge of Apple products
* Knowledge of Datto / Autotask
* Knowledge of Fortinet firewalls
Schedule
Monday to Friday – Flexi working available - working hours between 08AM to 6PM (early/lates) – 7.5 hours / day
Occasional weekend availability
