The Role: The Data Strategy, Capability and Oversight Team (DSCO) sits at the heart of Border Force’s transformation journey and is responsible for setting the direction for our strategic approach to data including the future operating model. Our teams also deliver the business-critical functions of obtaining and quality assuring data from external partners to support frontline and intelligence colleagues and ensuring that Border Force is legally compliant in the collection, storage, exploitation and disposal of data. This role sits within the DSCO Hub. The Hub is a small team which provides DSCO with a light touch PMO style support role. We are responsible for embedding our internal structures and governance requirements, developing our people, and growing our brand and culture to make DSCO an attractive and rewarding place to work. The Hub also performs some administrative duties around event and meeting planning, briefing support and occasional support across the wider team. The role will be to provide a dedicated risk management function which will not only be responsible for the management of the DSCO risk register but will assist in the embedding of a new risk culture within DSCO. Main Responsibilities: Development and implementation of the DSCO risk strategy ensuring alignment with the BTD and BF risk approach. Day to day management of the DSCO risk register (identification, documentation, monitoring and reporting of risks and issues) ensuring escalation as appropriate. Act as Risk SME providing advice to DSCO colleagues around risk best practice. Attend BF Risk Forum as required by Hub lead. Building and transitioning knowledge and skill of risk management within the team. Person Specification: You will have the following skills or proven experience: A proven track record of Risk Management in a project/PMO environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to develop recommendations. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to draft accurately and concisely at pace. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload and deliver to a high standard whilst managing conflicting priorities and deadlines. The ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and change and adopt a proactive and flexible approach to your areas of responsibilities.
