(1) Summary We are looking for a Driver Assessor Trainer to join our team based in Greenford, West London. This role is a key part of our Operations Team and plays a vital role in the success of our services. You will be responsible for training and developing ECT’s internal drivers while also providing specialised training for driver assessor trainers from other transport organisations. In Ealing, we operate 60 vehicles, supported by a team of 58 drivers and 27 passenger assistants. The role has a primary focus on assessing and training external driving assessors to ensure they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to evaluate and develop their own drivers to the highest MiDAS standards. Additionally, you will assess and train ECT’s internal drivers to maintain excellence in safety, compliance and service delivery. Should you not already be certified, the role is conditional on the successful completion of an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) course. While completing the ADI course, you will be limited to conducting refresher training for other driver assessor trainers. (3) Responsibilities Deliver MiDAS training to ECT drivers. Train and support driver assessor trainers from other community transport organisations, helping them develop the skills to assess drivers effectively and consistently to the highest standards. Conduct assessments of new and existing drivers to ensure they meet all safety, competence, and customer care standards. Provide support to Operations Team to in remaining up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices. Maintain detailed records of all training activities, assessments, and certifications, ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure that all drivers, including those being trained and assessed, follow relevant health and safety protocols, including risk assessments, passenger handling, and vehicle safety checks. Identify areas for improvement in our training programme, and work with management to implement best practices and new training methods. Undertake all other reasonable duties as delegated by a senior manager within the organisation, including driver duties and reviews of system improvements. Specific tasks will depend on operational need and may be affected by new services, revisions to procedures, etc. (4) Person Specification We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and passionate Driver Assessor Trainer with a commitment to high standards in safety, professionalism, and customer service. It is essential that the candidate: holds a full (minibus) driving licence (i.e. D1 or D1 101 category licence) has access to a private vehicle; holds MiDAS Accessible certification has excellent interpersonal and communication skills good Microsoft Office skills has a genuinely caring and friendly attitude is able to work as part of a team is professional, reliable and has a “can do” attitude is organised and has attention to detail a high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail. is able to work in a fast-paced environment If you are not already an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), you must be willing to complete the Approved Driving Instructor training and become accredited before you can deliver the MiDAS Standard and Accessible modules of driver assessor training. This certification is a requirement for fully delivering on the role’s responsibilities. It is desirable (but not required) that the candidate: has experience in delivering driver training holds an assessor qualification (e.g. Approved Driver Instructor (ADI)or similar) (if you are not already an ADI, you must be willing to complete the training) a patient and empathetic approach to training and supporting others, with a strong focus on fostering positive learning experiences; a solid understanding of relevant road traffic laws and the transportation of vulnerable individuals. Training will be made available to the successful candidate to increase their knowledge of the industry (e.g. Health & Safety and potentially Passenger CPC). (5) Details of Role and Employment Particulars Start date. As soon as possible, subject to any existing job’s notice period. Hours. The is a full-time role (i.e. 40 hours per week). Location. Greenford Depot, Greenford Road, Greenford, London UB6 9AN. Salary. The salary will be £29,598 per annum, dependent on qualifications and previous experience. The salary will be paid monthly in arrears by direct credit transfer. The monthly salary is calculated on the basis of 12 equal months. Probationary period. The appointment will be subject to a six-month probationary period. Notice. Employment is subject to one week’s notice by either side during the probationary period, and three months’ notice by either side on completion of probationary period. Holiday. Holiday entitlement amounts to a total of 20 days plus Bank Holidays. Leave must always be taken in conjunction with colleagues to ensure that adequate cover is available. Pension. ECT operates the Statutory Sick Pay Scheme (‘SSP’) during periods of properly certified sickness absence. ECT also operates an Occupational Sick Pay Scheme which provides payment in excess of the SSP rates, all such payments being at the absolute discretion of ECT and will depend on full compliance with obligations in relation to sickness reporting.
