Engineering Comodities / Materials / Components -
Support the Sourcing Manager in executing strategic supply chain and sourcing initiatives. Issue, negotiate, and advance supplier agreements through to completion. Actively participate in project meetings, providing informed sourcing insights. Conduct supplier visits and audits to assess performance, compliance, and suitability. Develop and maintain key sourcing metrics, delivering detailed reports to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance and sourcing effectiveness.
MAIN TASKS / DUTIES
Analyse, define, and implement market and sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to optimise cost and quality.
Identify and source new suppliers that strategically enhance cost efficiency and service levels.
Source additional suppliers to enable dual sourcing, strengthening supply chain resilience.
Develop and execute strategic plans to exit underperforming suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance against KPIs (cost, quality, and delivery) to enhance performance, addressing any issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Establish and formalise long-term agreements (LTAs) or contracts in alignment with company objectives, as directed by the Sourcing Officer.
Contribute to cross-functional projects by providing sourcing expertise to support Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs (QARA), New Product Development (NPD), Production, and Engineering.
Lead and manage sourcing projects, ensuring on-time and cost-effective completion.
Collaborate with the Sourcing Officer on the introduction and validation of new products, materials, and components, including managing component obsolescence and identifying alternatives.
Support Operations, Production Engineering, Materials, Quality, Service, and NPD teams, promoting operational excellence across the company.
Qualification/Experience required:
Demonstrable experience in sourcing, with a strong understanding of sourcing processes and quality standards.
Prior experience sourcing engineering commodities, including mechanical components, machined parts, and injection-moulding items.
Experience in supplier selection processes.
In-depth understanding of sourcing strategy and cost down.
Strong negotiation skills, with proven effectiveness in supplier and contract management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent time-management and organisational abilities.
CIPS Level 4 certification (desirable).
