About Us
The Stoneygate Eye Hospital is situated in the leafy suburb of Stoneygate in Leicester. We are proud to have been supporting and working with the local community since 2013. Run by a team of University Hospital Leicester (UHL) consultants, each highly experienced within their respective fields of Ophthalmology, and supported by an experienced, friendly and diverse team of nurses, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff. Role
This is a full-time on-site role offered on a permanent full-time basis of 40hrs per week, with the option for additional hours overtime. We require someone with flexibility as the shifts may vary throughout the week. The hospital is open on Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8am-9pm. As a Scrub and A&D Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting with surgical procedures, preparing patients and equipment, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment. You will also be responsible for assessing and monitoring patients post-surgery, providing appropriate care and support. It is a dynamic and challenging role that requires attention to detail and strong teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in preparing the operating room for surgery, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use
2. Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery, providing appropriate care and support
3. Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
4. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the surgical team
5. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
6. Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of pathogens
Requirements
1. Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
2. Proven experience working in an operating room setting
3. In-depth knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures
4. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach
5. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and colleagues
Qualifications
1. Registered Nurse qualification
2. Previous experience in a Scrub & A&D Nurse role required
3. Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and sterile techniques
