To undertake medical audio / copy typing duties including outpatient appointment and results letters to GPs, discharge summaries and other official medical correspondence. Take enquiries from clinicians, GPs, health services, patients and their relatives To accept telephone and email enquiries from clinicians, GPs, health service and social services personnel as well as from other hospitals, voluntary agencies, patients and their relatives. To work using own initiative with minimal supervision, prioritising own workload in line with the objectives of the department and consultant teams. To deal with all incoming correspondence by phone, post and e-mail in an efficient and effective way. To liaise with the other members of the secretarial/ administration team in order to provide a coordinated and efficient secretarial service. To liaise with patients, relatives and staff demonstrating sensitivity and maintaining professionalism at all times; escalating any complaints, problems or issues to clinicians or management as appropriate. To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times complying with the Data Protection Act, Information Governance and other Trust /departmental policies. To assist in providing cover for the secretaries in the Medicine Directorate to ensure continuity of service to consultant, medical staff, service users and patients. To undertake any other the duties as may be required/ appropriate by the Directorate Management Team.
