Your Day-to-Day:
1. Act as the project’s single point of authority and accountability for the mechanical engineering discipline
2. Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
3. Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Design Proposal Drawings, Mechanical Flow Diagrams and Detailed Design Drawings. Checking and Approval of scoping and FEA calculations.
4. Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards.
5. Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
6. Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented
7. Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages
8. Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
9. Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
10. Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM
11. Present Mechanical engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
12. Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
13. Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
14. Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
15. Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company’s capabilities
16. Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
17. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
18. Chartered Member of the IMechE preferred
19. Minimum 8+ years’ experience in nuclear industry or highly regulated industry and at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level
20. Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques applicable to mechanical design.
21. Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment
22. Must be legally eligible to work in the UK
