Job summary This vacant role is available as a fixed term for 6 months based at Furness General Hospital. We are a University teaching hospital full of hard working and dedicated staff providing community and hospital services across the Morecambe Bay area - an area covering a thousand square miles in south Cumbria and north Lancashire Main duties of the job Preparation of patients for theatre and post-operative care Dealing with both routine and emergency attenders Assisting in theatre and post operative care Dependant on experience will undertake minor procedures as required Be involved in complex clinical, patient management problems and inter-disciplinary planning treatment Participation in duty rota A face-to-face handover of care must take place at the end of the day, with communication of details about all problem patient Completion of discharge summaries is mandatory for all patients within 48 hours Provide outpatient new & review clinics including urgent referrals Help develop new services where needed Be expected to take an active part in continuing medical education. 1:11 nights, 1:12 lates, weekend & Sunday About us We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
