Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary consultancy in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional looking to advance their career within a team that delivers Civil, Structural, Architectural, and Geo-Environmental Engineering services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in running projects, particularly in residential housing developments of various sizes. You will be responsible for managing projects from planning and feasibility through to detailed design, tender, and construction phases. The role also involves liaising with statutory authorities to gain design approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage civil engineering projects from initial planning to final handover.
2. Prepare Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy Reports.
3. Design roads, sewers, plot drainage, and site levels, identifying retaining walls and earthworks.
4. Produce high-quality technical drawings for project submissions.
5. Collaborate with highways, water authorities, and LLFAs for compliant design approvals (e.g., S38 and S104).
6. Attend project meetings and engage with clients, stakeholders, and sub-consultants.
7. Mentor junior team members and support their professional growth.
8. Maintain knowledge of industry standards and software (e.g., MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D).
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. 6 - 10 years of civil engineering experience.
2. HNC in Civil Engineering (minimum qualification).
3. Experience in residential development projects.
4. Proficient in civil engineering design software (MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D).
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Knowledge of UK planning procedures and design codes (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges).
7. Full UK driving licence.
