We are operational 24/6, and you’ll cover various early and late shifts, 35hrs pw. Flexibility is key as there are different working arrangements & additional hours. There will be unpredictable finishing times, but we operate a rota system (12 weeks in advance) that allows meaningful time off to enjoy your interests. We are open to part-time positions for day shifts only, with full-time attendance required during the initial 5 1/2 weeks of training. About the Role: As a PCO, you’ll work as part of a team to provide safe and secure escorting and custody services to detainees, focusing on their physical and mental wellbeing. Key duties include: Escorting defendants to and from courtrooms, cells, and other areas within the court, including accompanying them to the toilet. Monitoring and supervising detainees in the docks during court sessions. Maintaining discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information discussed during court proceedings. Ensuring detainees have access to food and drink and monitoring their mental and physical health. Ensuring the safety and security of the court environment and responding to incidents or emergencies. Conducting thorough searches to prevent contraband from entering secure areas. Completing paperwork and data entry accurately and working closely with court staff, law enforcement, and legal professionals. What You Need: We seek individuals committed to making a difference. You will receive training during the 5 1/2 weeks course. Ideally, you’ll have a current valid driver's license, be reasonably fit, and possess good communication skills to manage and control situations. The role requires responsibility, vigilance, and handling challenging situations with professionalism. Suitable for those interested in criminology or psychology.
