Job Purpose:
This role supports delivery of the wider finance vision, seeking to shape the future of aviation as a trusted business partner focused on efficiency, collaboration, and innovation, as well as leading by example on our values of Growth, Control, and Challenge.
You will support the Head of Finance / Finance Director in providing financial leadership to the NATS Services Leadership Team. You will support the wider business partnering team, budget holders, and leadership teams to provide financial management, support, expert advice, and consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Improve the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance
* Provide analysis and insights, linking financial reports to business strategies
* Provide effective commercial procedures or initiate change to ensure key operational, commercial, and financial targets are delivered
* Ensure robust financial governance is in place, and that corporate governance is being complied with and any exceptions are being addressed
* Challenge local management based on the financial data and provide insight into implications of their decisions
* Drive efficiency and cost control, including at performance and budgetary review meetings with key stakeholders
* Support bid/business case/intercompany preparation work providing appropriate challenge
* Provide support with contractual negotiations with third parties
* Liaise with SMEs in other parts of Finance and with the business areas to deliver and provide feedback loop on wider Finance projects
Essential Skills and Experience:
* A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience gained across a range of finance functions
* Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and confident to support the implementation of change initiatives
* A strong communicator, comfortable presenting to and influencing local management teams, as well as developing skills towards communicating confidently at more senior levels within the organization
* Able to write effective reports that are insightful, clear, and concise
* A strategic thinker with good commercial acumen, able to balance a mix of commercial insight and logical skills, able to build interactions, connect with, and influence stakeholders
* Able to confidently build business cases and support strategic bids & investment programmes
* Strong analytical skills beyond the traditional functions of finance
* A logical problem solver, driven and inquisitive - able to identify and complete tasks with limited guidance and supervision and deliver to deadlines
