CONSULTANT IN PAEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY
A full time 10 PA post as a substantive Consultant in Paediatric Ophthalmology is available at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The ideal candidate would have post CCT Fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology. Candidates with adult strabismus experience are encouraged to apply. This is a substantive consultant post and the 10 PAs are apportioned 8 PAs for direct clinical care and 1.5 PAs for supporting professional activity with an on-call commitment.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist to join our established team of Consultants and work in the Oxford Eye Hospital.
The Oxford Eye Hospital provides a paediatric ophthalmology service to the Oxfordshire Population as well as tertiary referral work from surrounding regions. The post-holder would be expected to provide a comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology service. The ability to also provide adult strabismus surgery would be desirable.
The paediatric ophthalmology service has a strong multidisciplinary interaction with general paediatric, neurosurgery, neurology and craniofacial departments of the neighbouring Oxford Children's Hospital.
A clinical trials unit is active and research opportunities are available and encouraged. Participation on the consultant on-call rota is mandatory.
The paediatric ophthalmology team consists of a current locum consultant, one paediatric ophthalmology fellow and both optometrists and orthoptists with extended roles. Deanery trainees also work in the service.
Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or be within 6 months of doing so at the time of the interview. Applications from those wishing to work part-time or job share are welcomed.
