Job overview
We are looking to recruit additional Radiography Assistants in the Diagnostic Imaging Department and would love to hear from you if you are an organised individual interested in patient care. Radiography Assistants are essential for the smooth running of the Diagnostic Imaging service, supporting both patients and staff with a range of diagnostic imaging procedures.
Main duties of the job
The role includes:
* Clinical support and patient care during imaging procedures involving MRI, CT, Ultrasound and X-Ray.
* Assisting in movement of beds, wheelchairs, and patients using manual handling equipment provided.
* Preparing the clinical rooms for procedures and working aseptically during procedures.
* Entering data into the radiology computer system.
* Communicating with members of staff outside of the department to arrange complex scanning procedures.
We are looking for a motivated and caring individual who is ready to learn new skills and join our friendly team.
The department operates a seven day service and shifts involving evenings, weekends and community hospital sites.

Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services and links with satellite units in five community hospitals. We are a designated trauma unit and part of the Wessex Trauma network. The hospital has secured funding for a new emergency department and intensive care unit to be completed in 2025. The hospital is nationally recognised for research and audit activity.
Dorset County Hospital is in the county town of Dorchester which has good rail links to Southampton, Bristol and London and boasts highly rated schools. Dorset is a delightful place to live and work with the choice of coast or country for leisure activities. Dorchester has undergone a major refurbishment with lots of bars and restaurants providing evening entertainment. The seaside town of Weymouth is nearby with lots of water sports opportunities.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
* Care Certificate
EXPERIENCE
* Previous work in NHS care setting and/or within a team working with the public
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Evidence of ability to communicate with all levels of staff and members of the general public
* Evidence of ability to work under pressure
* Evidence of ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
* An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained
* Evidence of basic computer skills
* Understanding of the radiology department
