If so, we want to hear from you The Role: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team in Preston, Lancashire, or to work with various schools across the region through our agency, Tradewind. As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning, working collaboratively with teachers, and at times, taking responsibility for planning and delivering lessons and covering teacher absences. Key Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and prepare high-quality learning activities and resources aligned with the UK National Curriculum. Deliver engaging and effective learning activities to individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes under the direction of the teacher. Provide targeted support to students, including those with special educational needs (SEN), to ensure their full participation and progress. Cover planned teacher absences, delivering pre-prepared lessons and managing classroom behaviour effectively. Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students. Liaise effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals as required. Supervise students during lessons, break times, and other school activities. Contribute to the overall positive ethos and values of the school. Undertake relevant training and professional development as required. Be aware of and adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection. About You: Hold a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) demonstrating a high level of knowledge and skills in education and training. Significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role within a UK primary or secondary school. Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging learning activities under the guidance of a teacher. Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and assessment methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Confidence and ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively. A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of all students in the UK. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively. A good understanding of safeguarding principles and practices in the UK context. Desirable: Specific training or qualifications related to supporting students with SEN. Experience delivering specific interventions or support programmes. First Aid certification. A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate on the update service. Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK Contract Type: Full Time / Part Time / Supply (depending on the role) Salary: From £92 per day PAYE. Start Date: ASAP.
