Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Cannock areas)
Salary: c£57000
Our client is a specialist manufacturer, supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry, with several key product launches and continued investment in the production facility planned.
Job Description:
1. Specification of production facilities and capital equipment and recommendations for vendor equipment selection.
2. Implement improvements in manufacturing processes to optimise performance and capability.
3. Lead CAPEX specification and facilitate project timing, approval process, and budget.
4. Lead machine PFMEA process for major capital equipment.
5. Review and improve SOP/process instructions, process flow, and standard operations.
6. Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives and DFM/DFA.
7. Optimise process flow and minimise waste through VSM and lean manufacturing methods.
Experience:
1. Competent Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer, or Engineering Manager with experience in high volume or large batch mechanical manufacturing.
2. Time served or Graduate in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical subject.
3. Proven experience leading significant capital equipment (CAPEX) projects, including specification, cost justification, and vendor management through to project buy-off and successful NPI launch.
4. Experience leading PFMEA processes.
5. Project management and supplier/vendor liaison experience.
6. Knowledge of production processes and equipment in plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining, or large automated/robotic assembly.
7. Good communication skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
8. Hands-on approach with proven problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
9. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on several tasks or projects concurrently.
10. Willingness to travel to meet suppliers as required.
