An exciting opportunity has arisen within Medicine for an enthusiastic Band 6 nurse to help support nurses on Bosham Ward. The role requires an excellent, credible, clinical role model to support the ward leader and staff within the ward. We are looking for someone that can inspire and motivate new and existing staff in delivering compassionate care that ensures patient safety and dignity is carried out to a high standard.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should be dynamic, passionate and able to help develop the ward and the nurses. The individual will possess initiative, be willing to learn, deputise for the ward manager when required, take charge and assist with day to day management. As the Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for assisting with the budget management of the ward, staff performance and appraisal.
Job responsibilities
1. Act as a role model and ensure effective staff supervision with clinical practice, working with staff and patients in an advisory, teaching and support capacity and maintaining professional competence, authority and credibility.
2. Work collaboratively with clinical nursing experts including Heads of Nursing, Clinical Teams, Consultant Nurses, Nurse Specialists and Practice Development Nurses in the development of expert, person-centred practice.
3. Develop, motivate and lead a team by using objectives in line with department, sub specialty and corporate goals.
4. Provide professional leadership within the department alongside the band 7 ensuring that all staff use evidence-based practice and adhere to the NMC code of professional conduct.
5. Demonstrate a high degree of motivation and innovation.
6. Communicate effectively with the department team ensuring that there is a monthly team meeting and ensure robust systems exist so that staff feel informed.
7. Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works.
8. Work with PALS to ensure that areas of concern are addressed effectively.
9. Work in a multi-professional environment ensuring the most effective use of all members of those professional teams.
10. Display strong leadership and positivity to the department team during times of increased pressure on resources, staffing crises, or bed pressures, working with divisional leads to assess risks across the division and how these can be minimised.
