NLC’s housing stock represents one of the Council’s highest value assets and maintaining these homes to a high standard is essential for the authority to meet its statutory obligations and provide good quality homes in line with our council’s priorities. We are looking for two experienced Clerk of Works to join our special projects/design team.
The projects/design team plays a vital role in developing, planning, implementing, managing and delivering a wide range of projects, from inception to completion. The council has embarked on several large-scale innovative programmes being led by this team including;
1. Further enhancing fire safety within our tower blocks including new fire doors, smoke detection and sprinkler systems.
2. Planning and undertaking the demolition of our existing tower blocks over the next 25 years as well as a number of low rise developments.
3. Upgrading existing sheltered accommodation complexes to a new sheltered plus standard specialising in dementia care design.
4. Wide range of projects to undertake Energy Efficiency upgrades and renovations.
As Clerk of works you will be on the frontline helping to deliver on these projects, playing a key role bridging the design team and the on-site delivery team.
An SVQ Level 3/HNC/ Apprenticeship or equivalent in a Building related discipline is essential. Membership of Institute of Clerk of Works is desirable. Extended relevant experience of site/contractor supervision or Clerk of Works is essential.
You should also be a good communicator with knowledge of current building regulations and Health & Safety legislation. Local Authority experience with experience of refurbishment and large scale investment projects is desirable.
As a Clerk or Works, you will require to travel though out North Lanarkshire and may be required to participate in a rota to facilitate the out of hours’ response service during evenings and weekends.
