The scale of this recruitment reflects the opportunities and challenges at Slough. The new Finance team will support the Council in becoming a Best Value authority within two years. You have the opportunity to be part of this new team that aims to achieve this goal.
We have multiple vacancies across various services, including Financial Reporting, Treasury and Capital, Children’s Services, Adults, Regeneration Housing and Environment, and Housing Benefits (Revenue and Benefits). We are seeking energetic and talented finance professionals, whether newly qualified or seeking their next challenge.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: Manage financial reporting processes and ensure account accuracy.
2. Capital: Support the Council’s capital programmes, including funding.
3. Financial Strategy & Reporting: Coordinate the Medium Term Financial Plan and monthly management reports.
4. Adults: Oversee financial operations in adult services.
5. Education: Support financial management in schools, including Special Education Needs & Disability (SEND).
6. Regeneration, Housing, and Environment: Manage finances for these sectors.
7. Public Health & Public Protection: Support financial management across services.
8. Corporate Resources: Support the Chief Executive and S151 officer and their teams.
9. Revenue & Benefits: Support services handling council tax, business rates, and housing benefits.
What You Will Do:
* Provide financial oversight and support across services.
* Monitor costs and forecast accurately.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery.
* Utilise technology and accounting systems (Microsoft, Agresso) effectively.
Your Skills:
* Recently qualified or ambitious finance professionals with post-qualification experience.
* Chartered qualification preferred but not essential.
* Strong numerical skills and ability to communicate financial information clearly.
* Resilient, driven, and passionate about finance.
* Proficient with technology and standard accounting tools.
