City of Birmingham School is seeking a skilled and experienced Bursar to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining and developing the administrative and financial procedures and systems of the school, ensuring all legal and compliance requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate, maintain, and develop the school's administrative and financial procedures.
2. Provide efficient and professional HR support to the Headteacher and school.
3. Oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the Schools Information Management System (SIMS).
4. Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and reconciliation.
5. Produce timely and accurate financial reports for management purposes.
6. Manage invoicing, credit control, and budget monitoring.
7. Handle administration around purchase card applications.
8. Oversee the work of the Finance Officer and conduct annual performance reviews.
9. Manage personnel records and assist with recruitment and selection processes.
10. Handle pay-related queries and manage HR processes within the school.
11. Oversee maintenance contracts and service level agreements for all campuses.
12. Assist in the development of a site improvement plan.
13. Maintain asset management records and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
14. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
Essential Criteria:
1. GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade A*-C or equivalent.
2. Considerable experience in budget monitoring and account reconciliation.
3. Experience in producing financial reports and undertaking administrative duties.
4. Knowledge of budget management, accounting techniques, and financial management systems.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential issues with discretion.
