Financial Controller
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of our financial management processes and lead our finance team with confidence and clarity. Reporting to our Finance Director, you will be responsible for timely and accurate financial and accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulations. You’ll prepare financial reports for both our Executive team and our Head Office and support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both strategic insight and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports, along with the ability to motivate and guide a high-performing team. They should be an effective communicator who can explain complex financial information clearly, build strong relationships across departments, and adapt swiftly to changing business needs. We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, unafraid to “roll up their sleeves,” and passionate about supporting sustainable growth through financial excellence.
What you’ll be getting up to
* Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, including covenant reporting, profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow for operating companies, and consolidate any sub-divisional entities
* Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and reconcile revenue to comply with FRS 102, showing ARR, MRR, and LTM
* Monitor cash management, cash flow, cost controls and forecasting
* Process all tax matters, including CIS and VAT in line with requirements and deadlines
* Coordinate audits and serve as the primary point of contact with auditors and tax advisors
* Maintain and improve internal control policies and procedures
* Collaborate with divisional leaders and the senior leadership team to support financial goals and operational excellence
* Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting professional development and efficiency

In order to excel in this role you need…
* To be qualified to the desired level – you have a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field or a formal accounting qualification such as ACCA or CIMA
* To have done this before – you have significant experience encompassing all finance functions including management reporting and cost analysis
* To have experience operating in a similar business – you’ve worked in a company with multiple operating companies experiencing transition, growth and integration. You understand the SaaS sector and have experience in international trading
* To be tech-savvy – you’re proficient across the full suite of Microsoft Office and have worked with financial software and ERP systems such as Sage200, Xero, NetSuite and Dynamics
* To have an eye for detail – you also have exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
* To be agile – you have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
* To be open to change – having experience of M&A and managing finance integration and change programmes is desirable

* Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
* Location: Hybrid working – you’ll split your time between our St Ives Cambridgeshire office and home
* Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 9am – 5:30pm across Monday to Friday
