Some of your main responsibilities will include: Set the agenda for effective safety management in BAS. Provide an expert source of advice and assistance on H&S matters in the UK and Polar Regions, providing leadership and support to staff and managers across BAS. Ensure the effectiveness of safety systems in managing BAS risk profile and meet compliance, using a coherent programme of audits and monitoring, including the review of accidents, incidents and near misses; conduct investigations where appropriate. Ensure health and safety training, awareness, planning and controls match the requirements of ISO-45001 (safety management system) and is contributing to the continual improvement of BAS safety performance. For the role of Health and Safety Advisor, we are looking for somebody who has: Demonstrable experience in delivering health and safety management systems. High level of understanding of health and safety principles and legislation Practical experience of delivering safety in high hazard environments Ability to effectively communicate safety to diverse teams, including scientists, engineers, and support staff.
