Job overview
Lancaster District Nurses have an exciting opportunity to recruit a permanent Band 6 District Nursing Sister/Charge Nurse.
The successful candidate will ideally have at least one year's experience in Community Nursing and have completed or be working towards a relevant post registration qualification.
You will be working within the Lancaster district as part of a dynamic and supportive team who continuously strive to deliver gold standard patient care within our community.

Main duties of the job
This exciting opportunity is for a dedicated and motivated community nurse to develop their skills and knowledge in District Nursing, working across the Lancaster area and other community Nursing Teams as part of the Integrated Care Community (ICC's), covering a 24-hour period including weekends and bank holidays, 7 days a week.
Community Nurses work closely with all health and social care disciplines to prevent hospital admission, facilitate hospital discharge, and promote independence through reablement and management of long-term conditions. The role requires excellent communication skills as you will undertake complex nursing assessments and develop and deliver programmes of care with patients, families, and carers.
You will need a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle in order to fulfill this role.
Person specification
Essential and desirable
* 1st level registered nurse.
* Demonstrable basic and advanced clinical skills, e.g., physical assessment skills, venepuncture, BLS, wound care.
* Recent management/leadership experience relevant to clinical specialty.
* Post registration qualification in a relevant area that has enhanced clinical practice or working towards.
* Ability to travel as required.
* Ability to work as part of the MDT clinical team.
* Evidence of clinical competence and credibility in specialty.
* Ability to manage the care of a wide variety of patient conditions.
* Demonstrate ability to make clinical decisions and to develop others in this area.
* Understanding of clinical governance and its application.
* Demonstrate advanced people management skills, e.g., motivation of staff, decision making, leadership, staff development, conflict management, managing change.
* Understands the trust values and behaviours.
* Post registration management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake.
* Community specialist practitioner qualification or a willingness to undertake.
* Modules of study in leg ulcer, tissue viability, V150, palliative care or willingness to undertake.
