The purpose of the HR Advisor is to provide support to the HR Manager to ensure the delivery an effective HR service, including recruitment and training, across the MDL business.

Key Result Areas
* Participate in the development and implementation of HR strategies that support MDL’s business goals.
* Act as point of contact for managers and employees, providing expert advice on HR policies, procedures and best practices. Ensuring our processes and practices are compliant with current employment legislation.
* Collaborate with managers to address employee relation issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
* Support the recruitment process, including developing job descriptions and participating in interviews where appropriate.
* Assist in the implementation of HR initiatives and programs aligned with the business goals.
* Analyse HR data and generate insightful reports to drive informed decision making.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Provide guidance on learning and development opportunities to support employee growth.
* Ensure compliance with employment legislation. Provide guidance and advice to staff and managers on HR policies and procedures.
* Visible advocate for MDL’s mission and core values, embedding them in our processes.
* Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives, creating a workplace that celebrates diversity and promotes equality.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Employee Relations
* Acting as a key point of contact to support employees and managers in resolving workplace conflicts.
* Providing advice on grievance and disciplinary procedures, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
* Facilitating conflict resolution through mediation and communication to foster a harmonious work environment.
Policy Development
* Reviewing and updating HR policies to reflect current laws, regulations, and business needs.
* Ensuring that policies promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
* Communicating new or revised policies effectively to employees and management.
Recruitment and Selection
* Collaborating with hiring managers to create job descriptions that align with business goals.
* Ensuring a fair and transparent selection process that attracts diverse and talented candidates.
Performance Management
* Supporting managers in setting clear and achievable performance objectives.
* Assisting in organising regular performance reviews and providing coaching or training to managers.
* Focal point for our performance module on PeopleHR.
* Identifying performance trends and implementing improvement strategies for underperforming teams or individuals.
Compliance
* Staying updated on employment legislation and ensuring the organisation adheres to all regulations.
* Providing legal guidance to managers and employees on issues such as contracts, dismissals, or working hours.
Data Analysis and Reporting
* Collecting and analysing HR metrics like turnover rates, absenteeism, and employee satisfaction scores.
* Preparing reports and presentations to inform management decisions and highlight trends.
* Using data insights to propose innovative solutions to improve workplace efficiency and morale.
Learning and Development
* Identifying skill gaps within the workforce and recommending appropriate training programs.
* Project lead in the implementation of our competency, learning and training management system.
* Promoting career development initiatives, such as mentorship programs or leadership training.
Qualities and Experience
* Proven experience in an HR advisory or similar role (essential).
* CIPD qualified/similar or working towards HR qualification (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices (essential).
* Strong administrative and organisational skills (essential).
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office package and HRIS (essential).
* Experience of using PeopleHR (desirable).
* Exceptional work ethic, discrete and confidential in all aspects of the role (essential).
