Protection & Control Engineer
We are seeking a qualified Protection & Control Engineer for a major Transmission client based in Scotland.
Responsibilities:
* Assess and define the technical scope of protection and control requirements for new build substations and modifications to existing ones.
* Prepare outline scheme designs, key line diagrams, protection setting calculations, and setting files for relays, supporting the implementation of IEC61850 solutions.
* Review detailed designs from third-party contractors/consultants, witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and support field teams to ensure quality of installations.
* Evaluate tenders and procure/manage specialist services from consultants.
* Support multi-disciplinary project teams in identifying and managing engineering risks and opportunities for project excellence.
Requirements:
* Qualified to at least HND level in Electrical Engineering.
* Demonstrable technical skills in transmission protection and control scheme design, including calculating protection settings for implementation.
* Ability to assess engineering problems critically and evaluate various technical solutions.
* Good communication skills, diligence, and task prioritization, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM and ESQCR, and their implications for transmission network management.
* Chartered Engineers or those working towards chartered status are preferred.
* Experience with Protection & Control Engineering on UK projects is advantageous.
