An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic candidate to join the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Corporate Safeguarding Team as the Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Adults.
The successful post holder will assist the Head and Deputy Head of Safeguarding in leading on the application and delivery of the national and local safeguarding adult's agenda across WHT. This will include working closely across the wider safeguarding partnership to ensure that the Trust meets its responsibilities under relevant legislation for Safeguarding Adults including, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DoLS), Prevent, to provide quality, safe care in respect of adults.
The Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Adults willprovide day to day operational management and leadership to support the Safeguarding Adult Team.
The Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Adults will work collaboratively with key providers locally to ensure that there is system wide safeguarding processes in NOTE, WE MAY CLOSE THIS VACANCY EARLY IF WE RECEIVE HIGH NUMBERS OF APPLICATIONS.
Main duties of the job
To provide day to day operational and management leadership and support to the WHT Safeguarding Adults Team. This includes recruitment, appraisals and performance management oversight.
Provide clinical leadership, professional support and specialised advice to all staff and partner agencies in relation to safeguarding agenda. Utilise national and local guidelines to further develop safeguarding processes within the Trust
Proactively embed the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and DoLS agenda across the organisation, working closely with local supervisory bodies. Provide advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding adults, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DoLS).
Act as a resource, provide a high level of input to the service and provide professional leadership for both corporate and operational staff, trainees and volunteers in Safeguarding Adults at Risk.
Actively support safeguarding investigations and demonstrate excellent interagency working. As the lead nurse you will represent the Trust at interagency meetings, developing working partnerships at senior level with partner organisations.
Work closely with the Trust's Patient Safety and Governance Team, ensuring that safeguarding investigations are robustly conducted, and those outcomes are fed into the Trust's clinical governance process.

Job responsibilities
To assist the Head / Deputy Head of Safeguarding in leading on the application and delivery of the national and regional safeguarding adult's agenda across Walsall Healthcare Trust.
This will include working closely across the wider safeguarding partnership to ensure that the Trust meets its responsibilities under relevant legislation for Safeguarding Adults.
1. To provide day to day operational and management leadership and support to the Safeguard Adult's Team and wider team.
2. To work as the Lead Nurse for the Safeguarding Adult's Team and to provide cross-over support as needed across the service.
3. To be a visible Lead Nurse and work across the Trust site, including community.
4. To work in partnership with the local ICBs, Health Providers, Local Authorities, Named and Designated Professionals and other stakeholders to ensure that arrangements are in place for the Trust to meet its statutory obligation and duties.
5. To work with the Head and Deputy Head of Safeguarding to ensure that safeguarding training is developed and delivered for all staff at WHT in collaboration with the Trust education and training department and LSCBs.
6. To participate as required in Trust internal reviews and to contribute to Safeguarding Adult Practice Reviews as per statutory guidance.
7. To provide expert advice to the Trust on matters relating to safeguarding adults as required.
8. To write and deliver regular safeguarding reports for the Trust Safeguarding Group or others as requested.
9. Ensure that safeguarding advice reflects the interpretation of legislation, government and local policies and procedures.
10. Ensure that all policies regarding safeguarding adults are regularly reviewed and updated in line with local and national safeguarding requirements, with regular monitoring and reporting of compliance.
11. Identify safeguarding risks relating to practice, developing and implementing appropriate action plans accordingly.
12. Receive regular professional supervision from an appropriate supervisor and provide supervision to staff.
13. To work with other Designated and Named Professionals, Local Authority and stakeholders in formulating and implementing national and local policies and work programmes reflecting local need.

14. Current Professional Registration: RGN / RN / RMN
15. ENB 998 or related teaching qualification
16. Recognised leadership training
17. Post-registration training in safeguarding adults
18. Degree level essential

20. Master degree desirable or willing to work towards or equivalent relevant experience
