Job Summary
Leicester General Hospital Theatres are recruiting Band 5 nurses, Anaesthetic Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners within our department!
With surgical specialties such as Urology, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, along with specialist robotic surgery, this is the start of a fantastic career in a specialist area!
There is excellent scope for learning and advancement within our theatres, supported by our dedicated Education Team and clinical skills supervisors to help you develop and progress in your career.
Experience in Theatres, Anaesthetics, or an acute surgical ward is an advantage but not essential. We welcome applications from student ODPs and those returning to practice.
Please note there are no current pathways for Non-Resident Overseas Anaesthetic nurses. Direct applications should be made via agencies.
Main Duties of the Job
* To co-ordinate and provide skilled clinical practice (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct.
* To contribute to the continued development of Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), including the supervision of junior nurses/ODPs and support staff.
* Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of evidence-based clinical care to a group of patients.
* Assist and contribute to the management and organisation of a theatre or unit.
* Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing/ODP care.
* Participate in the education, development, and supervision of other staff members.
* Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing, and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
* Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential:
* Registered nurse, qualified ODP, or student ODP.
* Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education, and training.
Desirable:
* Possession or willingness to work towards a recognised NMC/HCPC teaching qualification.
* Experience in the speciality applied for.
* Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development or reflective portfolio.
