Senior Construction Planner

£85,000 - £95,000 PLUS PACKAGE
Our client specializes in new build, building refurbishment, and fit-out of landmark office, hotel, leisure, and residential buildings in central London. From modern commercial and retail schemes to high-end hotel and residential developments, our reputation as a construction contractor is built on quality, efficiency, and control.
Duties will include:
1. Project Planning & Scheduling:
Develop comprehensive construction schedules using specialized planning software, including activity breakdown structures, critical path analysis, and resource allocation.
Regularly update and maintain project schedules based on progress reports and field conditions.
Identify and manage critical milestones and dependencies within the project timeline.
2. Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to gather input and ensure alignment with the project plan.
Communicate project progress, potential issues, and schedule updates to key stakeholders effectively.
3. Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule disruptions and cost overruns.
Monitor and report on identified risks throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
Analyze progress data from field reports and identify areas of concern or potential delays.
Generate detailed progress reports for project management and client review, including forecasts and corrective action plans.
5. Technical Expertise:
Stay updated on industry best practices, new planning tools, and construction methodologies.
Provide technical guidance on complex planning issues and propose solutions to optimize project schedules.
6. Team Leadership:
May lead a team of junior planners, providing mentorship and training on planning procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong Planning Skills:
Expertise in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced understanding of construction planning principles.
* Technical Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and potential constraints across different project types.
* Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on project progress.
* Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively convey complex planning information to diverse stakeholders.
* Leadership Abilities:
Ability to guide and mentor junior staff on planning practices.
Relevant Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning roles, with a proven track record managing complex projects across various phases.
* Experience in a variety of construction sectors (e.g., commercial, residential, industrial) is beneficial.
