RPS is looking for a Senior Town Planner to join our Planning Team based in Birmingham or Manchester. The range of work on offer is wide and varied and will provide you with rich experience in town planning.
Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services within a team of planning experts, you’ll have the opportunity to support and deliver on a broad range of planning applications including residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics and major infrastructure projects.

What you’ll be doing
1. You’ll be supporting our strategic planning work, which includes the preparation of representations to Local Plan consultations and developing planning strategies to promote land and development for inclusion in Local Plans.
2. Supporting Planning Directors in successfully delivering their planning caseload, including preparing Planning Statements and representations to Local Plan consultations.
3. Developing your written and oral communication skills.
4. Directly engaging in our business development initiatives.
5. Actively supporting our Planners, Assistant Planners, Graduates and Apprentices.
6. Contributing/engaging in our Prospects Planning Group.
Who we’re looking for
1. A fully qualified RTPI chartered town planner, with experience in a planning consultancy or local government role.
2. Ability to work under tight deadlines.
3. A passion for planning, development and environmental issues.
4. A good working knowledge of planning policy.
5. Attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
6. A strategic thinker and someone who can readily problem solve.
7. A market awareness and a good understanding of local planning issues.
8. Experience working in a planning policy role would be an advantage and/or experience in a city/urban planning environment within the Birmingham or Manchester region.
