We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Backend Developer to join a cross-functional engineering team. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and collaborating with wider teams to design and deliver high performance systems.
For an experienced Backend Developer to join a team of engineers, in a role that you can make your own, you will play an integral part in supporting the team and business in bringing innovative ideas to support digital transformation projects.
Location: Solihull – B37 (Hybrid – 3 days office based)
Salary: Up to £45,000, dependant on experience

What it's all about…
As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for:
* Developing and maintain scalable backend systems using microservices architecture
* Design and implement efficient API’s
* Write, test and maintain, clean and reliable server-side code
* Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to understand project requirements
* Ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend components
* Optimise system performance, reduce latency and maintain high levels of security
* Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery
* Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and robustness
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practice
What we will need from you…
* Previous experience working in a Backend Developer role, or similar position
* Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript.
* Extensive experience with Node.js and microservices development
* Solid understanding of web service architectures (REST, GraphQL)
* Experience using MySQL and distributed SQL databases
* Proficient in writing unit and integration tests
* Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure
* Knowledge of container technologies, ideally Docker
* Understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps principles
* Experience with Agile methodologies
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Strong communication skills
* Self-starter mentality and a passion for continuous learning
* Ability to prioritise workload and deliver to deadlines
* A want to stay up-to-date with backend technology and contribute to innovate ideas Ability to explain technical information to business stakeholders
