We are seeking a Manager to lead and develop in a well-established Construction Materials Department, based at the laboratories in London. This is a high-level position reporting directly to the Managing Partner for the firm.
You will be:
1. An expert in construction materials testing, with significant previous experience of similar activities and an extensive knowledge of concrete.
2. Possessing report writing skills and a practical nature, essential for handling many live projects at once.
3. Demonstrating strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
4. Holding a degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Construction, or being able to demonstrate experience working in these sectors is preferred.
5. Alternatively, having a solid foundation in scientific principles, through education or work experience, will be looked upon favorably.
Key Skills:
1. Manage and lead the six staff in the department.
2. Advise on and oversee the testing of various construction materials, including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds, and flooring materials (including slip resistance testing).
3. Undertake testing both on site and in the lab, additionally taking samples for later testing.
4. Input data into an Excel spreadsheet.
5. Exhibit good communication skills.
6. Have an eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Be computer literate.
